Heat related Vulnerability Index

The spatial distribution of heat related vulnerability in the greater Hobart metropolitan region suggests that areas of higher risk are concentrated in the areas to the north and west of the city. This corresponds with areas where there are higher proportions of aged care facilities and areas of lower socioeconomic status.

Emergency ambulance callouts

This map shows the spatial distribution of emergency ambulance calls between 1/7/2003 and 31/7/2011 on extreme heat days defined using a daily mean temperature of 28°C. The highest numbers of emergency calls (marked as red on the map) were in the inner city area and to the north-west of the city.
