Heat related Vulnerability Index

The spatial distribution of heat related vulnerability in the greater Canberra metropolitan area is noted in the areas to the north of the city. These are areas with higher concentrations of older people and people who need assistance with daily activities.

Emergency ambulance callouts

This map shows the spatial distribution of emergency ambulance callouts between 17/8/2004 and 10/4/2011 on extreme heat days. Hot days were defined as days equalling or exceeding a mean temperature threshold of 28°C. The highest numbers of emergency ambulance calls (marked as red on the maps) are in the suburbs north of the city.
