Heat related Vulnerability Index

The spatial distribution of heat related vulnerability in the Brisbane greater metropolitan area suggests that areas of higher risk are concentrated in the western suburbs with some increased risk in coastal areas to the north and south of the city as well as Bribie Island. These are areas with a higher concentration of older people and multi dwelling structures.

Emergency ambulance callouts

This map shows the spatial distribution of emergency ambulance callouts between 1/7/2003 and 4/8/2011 on extreme heat days defined using a daily mean temperature threshold of 34°C. The highest numbers of emergency ambulance calls (marked as red on the maps) are in the western suburbs, Bribie Island and coastal areas to the north and south of the city.
